Fátima, Russia & Other Matters

The message of Fátima has shaped the course of the last 100 years. Our Lady's warning about the offenses against God which continue to shape our era, about the scourge of atheistic communism which if not contained would spread, has been in part heeded, and in part realized. Heeded, in that the “late” consecration of communist Russia, in 1984, did indeed free the peoples of the Soviet bloc. Realized, in that its lateness allowed it to spread to the West in the many atheistic ideologies, including socialism, as well as secularism, and others which afflict global society in the 21st century. The antidote to these remain for the Catholic faithful, and others of good will, to believe, and to act upon, what the Blessed Mother requested as remedies, by way of prayer and penance, especially reparation for sin.
